2008 LASG annual meeting was held in
Beijing from 18-20 December 2008. Dr. Jianping Li, the deputy director of LASG, presided over the opening ceremony. LASG director, Dr. Bin Wang delivered the opening speech and Dr. Huijun Wang (the director of IAP) gave a congratulation address. Near 300 scientists and students from National Climate Center, the second Institute of Oceanography of SOA, University of Hawaii, Peking University, Nanjing University, University of Science and Technology of China, PLA university of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Information, Ocean University of China, Science and Technology, Sun Yet-sen University, Lanzhou Univeristy, Yunnan University, Chengdu University of Information Technology, Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute(CAREERI) of CAS, and Institute of Tibetan Plateau of CAS attended the opening ceremony. The deputy director Dr. Tianjun Zhou gave a report on the 2007 review of LASG. Keynote speeches were presented after the opening ceremony by Academician Chongyin Li, Academician Yihui Ding, Academician Ronghui Huang, Academician Dunxin Hu, and Prof. Bin Wang.
