Tenure research position in LASG

The State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (LASG), Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) seeks applications from outstanding oversea Chinese scientists for one tenure research position in the field of atmospheric sciences. This position is located within LASG in Beijing. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to:
•Climate model development in the fields of OGCM, air-sea coupling technique, and biogeochemistry model
•Air-land-sea interaction over Asia and Indian-Pacific Oceans;
•Satellite data assimilation;

Qualifications required:
1. Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Aerosol Science or related fields;
2. Four consecutive years’ experience in overseas scientific researches after receiving a doctoral degree;
3. Under age 40 (the age limit can be extended to 45 in exceptional circumstances)
4. With the title of assistant professor or higher positions during overseas years;
5. Having worked independently as the head or key member of a project team, with outstanding performance;
6. Having published at least 6 papers on SCI journals as the first author;

Please note that the tenure position will be secured only after the enrolled candidate passes the evaluation undertaken by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) at the end of the first employment year because the initial 4 year appointment term is supported by the Hundred Talents Program launched by CAS. The Hundred Talents Program is a talent initiative to publicly recruit outstanding young S&T talents within the country and abroad. The enrolled candidate will receive not less than RMB 2 million for research funding, along with research and office premises. In addition to salaries, welfare benefits and medical care as required by the government, there are also such benefits as position allowances and housing subsidies. Founded in 1985 to help advance the atmospheric research in China, LASG has become an important research center and talent training base of atmospheric sciences and geophysical fluid dynamics. LASG is mainly engaged in the research on model design, climate dynamics, predictability theory, variational data assimilation and climate and weather prediction.
