风云气象卫星产品研发与应用进展

报告摘要: 
气象卫星已成为全球灾害天气监测不可替代的手段,对防灾减灾、应对气候变化,具有极其重要的作用。与欧美相比,国产气象卫星产品在揭示极端天气和灾害方面缺乏足够的动态范围、产品算法扩展性较差,用于数值预报同化的风云卫星微波大气探测资料缺乏优化处理,同化效果不明显。近年来,在国家重大科技计划支持下,我们开展了全球云、气溶胶、大气温湿度、土壤温湿度等参数高精度反演技术研发,针对国产气象卫星,我们发展了高精度快速辐射传输模拟系统,形成风云卫星产品集成反演算法。对风云卫星大气探测数据做优化处理,在数值预报变分同化中取得了明显的正效应。

 

报告人简介:
Professor Fuzhong Weng received his PhD degree in 1992 from Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Colorado State University. He is a fellow of American Meteorological Society and a professor in Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Co-chief editor of Journal of Meteorological Research and Associate Editor of Journal of IEEE Geoscience Remote Sensing. His major research areas include radiative transfer, satellite remote sensing, satellite data assimilation and instrument calibration. During 2002-2005, he was appointed as the Deputy Director and Chief Scientist of US Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA). From 2005-2010, he was the chief of satellite calibration and data assimilation branch at NOAA/NESDIS. From 2011-2017, he was appointed as the Chief of Satellite Meteorology and Climatology Division, Center for Satellite Applications and Research, NOAA/NESDIS. He was the Director of the Coordination Center, hosted by the Branch, of WMO’s Global Space-based Intercalibration System (GSICS). Among his many honors are NOAA’s highest award, the Department of Commerce Gold Medal, for developing techniques to assimilate advanced satellite observations into computerized models that significantly improve weather forecasting. He was also the first recipient of the NOAA’s David Johnson Award, presented annually by the National Space Club to recognize achievements of young professionals in the U.S. who have shown an outstanding innovation in the use of satellite data for operational environmental applications.  He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and 9 book chapters on remote sensing sciences. In 2017, he also published a book on passive microwave remote sensing of the earth for meteorological applications in Wiley Series in Atmospheric Physics and Remote Sensing.
