Global climate impacts of the Indian Ocean warming: some overlooked aspects

Abstract:
The tropical Indian Ocean (TIO) has warmed progressively by 1°C since the 1950s and will probably continue to warm as the atmospheric carbon dioxide level keeps rising. In this talk, I will discuss how the TIO warming could influence global climate via interacting with the Atlantic Ocean, which has been largely overlooked before. Implications for past and future climate changes will be discussed.

胡世能，2012年本科毕业于北京大学，2018年博士毕业于耶鲁大学，现于哥伦比亚大学Lamont-Doherty地球观测所从事博士后工作。主要研究方向为海气相互作用和气候动力学。目前研究的课题包括极端厄尔尼诺的动力机制，海洋洋盆间相互作用，全球变暖下的区域气候变化机制，以及古气候模拟。
